I don’t have a lot of friends and I have been looking online to find people to have coffee or lunch with or go to the movies with but all the websites are geared toward dating. I just want friends, male or female, to hang out with. Sigh…
Poor me
Don’t some dating sites allow you to hook up with others that are just looking for friendships, I think I’ve seen that option before. Maybe not on all of them, and I can’t remember which one(s) I saw that on.
I don’t have any friends. I live with my parents. My work is 95% solo work, I’ve been alone for a long time (years). I’m kinda used to it at this point.
It used to really bother me because I had a really active social life before schizophrenia, but I learned to fill my time with things I enjoy. I’m doing okay.
I’m 52 and considering going back to community college to get my x-ray tech license. I don’t have any friends for a variety of reasons. I’m looking on MeetUp dot com right now for events I can go to and meet new people. Wish me luck!
I’m 43, so not quite as old. If I go back to school i have a year and a bit to complete my B.Sc Biology. I doubt I will though.
When I was in the outpatient program at the hospital they mentioned that meetup website. I signed up to check it out but I haven’t actually met up with anyone or any groups.
Good luck!
Too bad you don’t live near Seattle, WA. We could hang out
Meetup.com has lots of platonic options for get togethers
Hey bumble has a bff section… you could try meeting new people that way… good luck with your x-ray tech license… that’s really awesome you are going back to school.
How do you feel about board games? The board gaming community is very open and welcoming. You can usually walk into any game store for an event or whatever and talk to people, ask to play if they’re just starting, whatever. Highly recommend.
I would have to learn how to play but that’s a good idea. I’ll consider it.
Is there a Club House in your area?
Hmm? I don’t think so. Not that I have heard of.
Everyone is always learning! There are so many board games, there’s no way anyone knows how to play then all. I don’t even remember how to play some of my favorite games because I play them so rarely because we have so many.
My best advice, find all your local game stores and see if they have a website and if they do if they have a calendar available. The ones that don’t have one available online, go visit in person or call and see if they have any events coming up that would be good for someone new to board games. Or if they have any board game nights or casual effects. Board game nights are probably the most common and your best bet for something super low key and casual. Get there a little early and if you see someone sit at a table and start setting up a game, go talk to them. Ask the difficulty and if they have an open seat.
