Lighten up

One time I was attending a CA meeting by myself. It was a fairly big meeting and I was sitting in the middle of the group behind these three guys I had never seen before. They look like tough characters but so did a lot of people in meetings. I couldn’t help but listen to their conversation and they mentioned one of them was from Texas. I saw an opportunity to use one of my favorite short jokes. I leaned forward and said, “Hey, I just heard they found a new use for sheep in Texas. Wool.”

I was just trying to be funny but boy, all three of them just turned around and gave me really unfriendly looks. I mean I was physically scared for a second. Then they just turned back around and ignored me. Man, people can be so touchy, lol.

I’ve heard that one before. It’s funny, but I understand why they weren’t amused.

Yeah me too, from the looks of them, they all had sheep for pets!

I don’t understand the joke.

Uh, think what people on farms in the south do with their animals when they get horny and no woman is around.

It’s not even a joke. Nice try!

If it’s not a joke, what would you call it?.

I lived in ranch country for many years and was never aware of anyone doing anything of the sort. Word gets around in small communities so if someone was, pretty much everyone would have known ten minutes later.

I’m Southern and never once on our farms did we do such a thing.
