Lava/Glitter lamps

Anyone into these?

I have a retro glitter lamp which I really like. Some of the fluid has dissipated though, so it could need a little refill. But apparently it’s not very easy. Have to get the balance right between water and calcium chloride, use distilled water and whatnot.

Always thought they were neat to watch, relaxing. They can get very hot though.

I  lava lamps. I feel guilty about the electricity but I think they are therapeutic enough for some people

Yeah, I just read up on it a little today, they have different wattage. Mine operates on a 15w bulb which is relatively low I think.

Dirt cheap on eBay if you don’t mind waiting a month. Cost me $2 for 3 bulbs including shipping.

I used to have two, but my kid made off with one. Brat. She’s also eyeing up my plasma lamps.

I wouldn’t feel guilty about it if you have a fair reason to use electricity.

Did you know that two thirds of the power for light bulbs generate heat? For example a 60w light bulb generates approximately 40w heat. So if you need to heat your apartment it’s not really much of a overconsumption.
