Keeping up the Army Reserves morale one stupid joke at a time #2

I’m at work today. Working.
Not my best day there but it had its good moments. In fact, a lot of them.
Three years ago I thought everybody hated me there. There were several people who were consistently nice to me and seemed to like me but I thought, “Naw, they’re just acting”. Despite being polite, respectful, and friendly to me every time saw them.

Cut to: just this past year. I looked at the soldiers a little closer and they were friendly and nice. And those few people who I thought were acting were actually sincere. So I went to the other extreme and I thought “Wow, everybody likes me” Well it’s come full circle and now I know that there’s a bunch of people who like me, but in varying different degrees. Enough of this.

Today, I was vacuuming and a worker my age asked me how I was doing. I gave him my standard answer that makes almost everybody chuckle.
I told him, “It could be better, it could be worse”. He laughed at that and then he said, “Well, at least the weekend is here, don’t you like that?” I replied “No, its too close to Monday”. It was a stupid comment off of the top of my head but he laughed at that too, and a soldier who was drinking at the drinking fountain a few feet away heard what I said and he laughed too.
Comedy ain’t rocket science people.

A decent sense of humour will get you far with most people! It’s also good if you can have a laugh about yourself…so many people take things way too seriously!

do you usually joke around with them like that? if this is the first time after a number of years that they have been nice maybe they were just getting used to you. or they are jerks, or they are just young and immature. or they find you intimidating and don’t know how to approach you. personally i don’t think what you said, was funny, just an observation. did the other soldier at the drinking fountain laugh nicely or sort of meanly? sorry, maybe i am overthinking this, what you said was probably pretty funny in the situation, also i don’t know the way you said it .

Good Monday joke! When people ask me how I am, I say “Good enough for an old lady.” and that always gets a laugh. It just got a little harder to say after I got pneumonia.
