I’m at 90 right now after some orange juice, candy and a pop. I may have to stop all diabetes meds. Crazy. IDK what the ■■■■. I already took no insulin at night and half in the morning. Looks like I have to cut out glipizide and insulin completely.
called the on call physician again. She told me to cut out glipizide completely. No insulin tonight but to take the morning insulin. Going to cut it in half again, though.
OUtside of this crazy blood sugar, Im fine. Thanks for asking. I’m having a hell of a time getting any sleep because I wake up to my blood sugar alarm going off.
SOunds like a good evening @Montezuma . I have to work again tomorrow 10 hours and then I should get 4 days off. HOpefully I can get things back under control then.
At least until I work again next week. I think all the exercise is throwing everything off. Its hard to adjust.
I keep picturing a plane in a nose dive with me struggling to pull up on the “joystick”.
Try and replace that mental image with positive images. Like marrying your ladyfriend, or snuggling with Maggie. Maybe put on a spiritual radio station like K-Love and listen to it on headphones. That’s what I do when I feel scared at night.
Kind of a shot in the dark because I don’t know much about diabetes but maybe focusing on foods with a g.i. of 50 can help keep it steadier. New routine requires a new diet I suppose.
When activity levels are lower maybe high gi foods are a good solution for getting your bs up quickly because whatever you do have will last in the body for quite a while. But with high activity levels where a lot of calories are being depleted quickly those spikes when coming from high gi foods will last for shorter amounts of time making the cycling faster.
So maybe mid gi foods would be a better option.
Maybe foods like fruit, milk or oatmeal would be a better modulating tool although you’d probably have to find a good timing and watch on the amount because they are high glycemic load.
But fruit is mid gi and low GL so… Maybe having fruit on hand would be good for when you need a quick blood sugar boost, and something like oats when you just want to coast.
