From 3/17/2020 thru 4/21/2020,
zero deposits from book sales on Kindle Store. Time to ■■■■ off and play around. Social media does nothing.
Are you comfortable and allowed to share your books here? Curious on the content.
I don’t know ALL the rules on here, but I try it, and if somebody says I can’t do that,
then locked, removed, or suspended.
you can always PM me. I talk about my books all the time on here, maybe you’ve missed it?
I don’t feel like repeating myself to everyone on here.
The life of a creative is heartbreaking as a rule. Only a tiny minority ever even pay the bills with their work.
Many condolences though.
I enjoy your posts, for what it’s worth.
Unfortunately there does not seem to be a huge online support base for disabled business owners… I guess people figure it’s a contradiction in terms. I market stuff directly to organizations and groups on Facebook but probably the most I ever made in a month was $20.
@Daze have you tried promoting on Reddit? Some people have luck, a girl I went to school with since 2nd grade I found out her autistic brother(wanna say Aspergers but a little ) wrote a 3 series fantasy book and completely self published and printed. He’s sold maybe 50 sets in 10 years, but if I’m 35 then he’s gotta be in his 20’s still. But he would promote on Reddit on one of the r/ and usually make a sale or two. I bought it because of support, but it’s not my type of fantasy rainbow kitties stuff. But I do put his name on people’s wishlists on open sites at Xmas so he gets some sales them too. He only sells print.
thanks. Good for him. I’ll consider it. Yeah, I’m already having more luck with selling a few of my print copy in book stores around my state.
My books aren’t all poetry. Poetry isn’t always read,
and when I published them, it’s a non-classifiable category.
It is technically against the rules. It is not a rule I particularly agree with.
I wouldn’t want to come across as trying to sell them on here.
Just want to share what I’m up to.
The rule is really only meant to stop spambots or people involved in MLM schemes. I hate that it prevents creative folks from sharing their stuff. If you did post a link to your books, I would just lock the thread, and wouldn’t flag or suspend you. That way, people who wanted to could still find it and I wouldn’t be ignoring the rules. Just saying.
And I will be offline for the next few hours because of home school, so I won’t even see the thread for a while.
Marketing is tricky… I think maybe I get one in 1,000 visitors to my online store to buy something. But then if I could get 100,000 visitors maybe my profits would scale up 100x too.
Google and Facebook ads can be fairly cost effective if done well.
One in 1000 is pretty workable. You can totally scale that somehow.
I’m not in the right headspace to help in detail ATM, but I have tons of dropshipping / ecommerce courses that talk in depth about that. Alex Becker in particular.
