Ok. Maybe you wont find it silly. Maybe you think it should happen. But here it is.
This is primarily for US residents but feel free to vote if you want to if not US.
There is a push to make the day after the Super Bowl a National Holiday. I think this is silly.
If your going to do it for the Super Bowl, don’t you have to do it for all the other sports major days too? What about the world series? If Football fans get an extra day off shouldn’t baseball fans too? What about Tennis or Hockey or the Olympics. Suddenly we have 50 new federal holidays.
If you want the day off so bad I guess you take a vacation day or call in sick. Why do we need to get the Federal government to bend to the will of Football fans over a silly game of catch?
Maybe you disagree.
What do you think?
Should the day after the Super Bowl be a National Holiday?
42% of U.S. employees said the day after the Super Bowl should be a national holiday, according to a survey of more than 1,200 Americans, conducted Jan. 26-30, 2023 by The Harris Poll for The Workforce Institute at UKG.
This is from a USA Today article, not the morning show I was watching.
I believe the show I was watching said that 37% of the general public thinks it should be in a poll from this year.
I suppose football is probably the most popular American sport so in that regard it kinda puts the Super Bowl at the top of most watched games.
I’m not really into sports myself, but I respect how they unify people and allow human beings a more positive outlet to express a sense of aggression and tribalism.
I mean in the old days we used to have family rivals over stealing each other’s sheep stock, now we just watch grown men smash into each other on a field LOL.
