That’s what a few of my co workers are saying. I got into work today at my janitor job and the supervisor told us everybody gets off at 12:00 pm. My company and the Army Reserve make a contract as to exactly what we do, our job duties. For example, clean the restrooms twice a week, empty the trash cans twice a week, vacuum the entire office building once a week etc.
Today we got off early because the contract expired and apparently there’s a chance the Army won’t renew our contract and we’ll all be out of jobs. Scary stuff, I’m not going to find another job like this anywhere else, I got great hours, they never hound us to go faster, they’re not breathing down out neck making sure we do everything perfect, we get paid vacation and sick leave and the job is easy.
Another bad part of the situation is my ten year anniversary is coming up in two weeks and I was expecting a bonus but now if they don’t renew the contract my bonus may go down the drain.
I’m sorry, man, that sounds tough. Hopefully they renew it, but if not, is there like community work service for people with mental disorders? There is even in my small town and abroad, so I imagine there is where you’re at.
I can:t imagine that they would decide at the last minute whether to renew the contract or not. If they were not going to renew, they would have had to find someone else to do the janitorial duties. It’s not like janitorial services are optional for an office building.
