Honestly, I’m quite frustrated. I’ve already requested Freedom of Information Act for the reasoning of my disqualification.
I don’t know about your local laws.
But often you don’t get an explanation or the real reason (just an excuse)!
Edit: If I remember correctly it was for a Government job.
I actually got an offer for the Belgian IRS a year or 2 ago.
There a panel gave each applicant a score on 100. And the highest scores got an offer.
I was in the middle of the hiring process for the American IRS when I got disqualified I already accepted a job offer. I just need to pass the background stuff but in the process got disqualified. I just want to know the reason but HR wouldn’t give me a reason.
I’m interested in finding out if they are willing to be honest.
My guess would be that they won’t do that.
That’s why I requested foia, they have to give response now. I mainly want to know to see whether it’s worth it to keep applying for federal government jobs if there really is something wrong in my background.
Here the only thing that would disqualify you for most Government jobs is having a criminal record.
Having a disability can even help your application here.
For the IRS, apparently debt and not being tax compliant. But I don’t know if medical debt counts. I do have some that. The year where I made so little bit that I didn’t need to file taxes wonder if that could be why.
I dont think the FOIA applies to getting rejected from a job. Even a government job.
The tax men can be brutal.
I think a lot of people globally have already gotten in trouble.
I was lucky that when I lived abroad my company helped to file me taxes in all countries.
The only reason why I did it was other Federal workers on another forum site told me to do that.
Here’s a link to the criteria for making suitability determinations for federal workers.

Also some info from.the IRS
Thanks, I don’t recall committing any of these things. I wonder what they saw.
When this thread was first put up, i did a little bit of looking on the internet. What people were saying in a discussion was that you can file for the FOIA, but at some point during the application process, you may have signed a waivor for this to apply.
I dont know if thats real or legit, but thats what I saw some people discussing on my brief look into it.
Small print is awesome!
That sucks, but it’s not surprising that the IRS is doing some dirty trick like that.
I already did this. Hopefully something comes up from it.
I dont think it was discussion was for the IRS specifically, but it was a government job. Sorry, my short term memory can be spotty sometimes. Especially when I dont get enough sleep.
When I filed the foia I was allowed to send to the agency I wanted so I sent it to the IRS
