Has anyone ever had an itchy rash on their neck, face and eyelids? It started on my neck the second day of taking bupropion.
I saw my dermatologist yesterday and she said it would’ve been too soon for it start from bupropion on only the second day. Stress caused it on my face. She said my neck looked like poison ivy, but the rest she wasn’t sure of. I wasn’t exposed to any poison ivy. I’ve been indoors.
You know, I was thinking. My doctor, the dermatologist, did not think it was bupropion because it started on day two right after the second dose. She said it was too soon for me to have had an allergic reaction to that medication.
Also, I use a foam on my face because of a yeast overgrowth. Stress made my face swell up. I’m wondering if that’s what it is? Stress messing with yeast overgrowth? I also have Behcet’s syndrome.
“Stevens-Johnson syndrome requires immediate medical attention. Seek emergency medical care if you experience signs and symptoms of this condition. Drug-induced reactions may occur during the use of a medication or up to two weeks after discontinuing it.”
That’s what my doctor said. It showing up 24 hours after I took bupropion is too soon. My face rash started a week after I started bupropion. This might just be stress.
Your dermatologist probably knows more about it than us, but you might also want to check with the pharmacist or your prescribing doctor to be sure. Not all non-psych docs are familiar with the reactions psych meds can cause.
