Is it normal to get itchy on lamotrigine?

  • I’ve been sitting in the sun for a few minutes every morning to get my biological clock set for the past week
  • I’ve been on 150mg lamotrigine for 3 weeks and 4 days
  • Prior to that, I was on 25-50-100mg w/gradual titration since late january
  • I am using new skin products, like moisturizers, and things, mostly on my face
  • I’ve been sleeping in clothes the past few days because my space heater is wonky
  • Yesterday I was a little itchy so I scrubbed myself with a scrubber (not clean, been in there for months) this morning and yesterday night, and I rarely do that
  • The rash itself is not severe; raised goosebumps, not a “rash” per se, but just “itchiness” on the back of my head, on my scalp, neck, shoulders, forearms, spots on my back, and thighs
  • I felt sick yesterday, but its possible that was just coldness and compromised immunity
  • I drink and eat very well, but my skin is dry lately
  • According to the forecast for my area we’ve just started getting low-medium pollen count last monday after spring thaw
  • I’ve never had allergies, but I am sneezing
  • The rash is neither “acute” nor “agressive”

I think rash is an adverse reaction to Lamactil (lamotrigine).

Just the presence or the severity?

I have the itchy and goosebumps also my medical doctor gave a steroid lotion and a allergy med, he also said if this doesn’t work he going to set up a allergy test. He also said that I should take lukewarm showers and wear long pants. Good luck with this itchiness

Yeah its on my belly, thigh now, it’s not visible though. Just itchy. No fever or anything. Nothing above the neck,

If it’s severe, you should inform your pdoc.

Contact your doctor @Anon10.
Lamictal can cause different skin conditions including Stevens Johnson syndrome, a potentially fatal skin rash.

Call your doctor immediately!!! The lamotrigine rash can be fatal if left untreated!!!

Lamotrigine can cause a very serious rash.
When I increased lamictal too quickly I got a red rash on my face. You need to tell your doctor immediately.
