Its a medical website and says low dopamine causes these:
Some signs and symptoms of conditions related to a dopamine deficiency include:
I’ve an uncle with Parkinsons. It’s way worse to me than what I deal with.
Even on meds with those who get the extrapyramidal symptoms I’m taking sz everyday of the week.
I had a half aunt with it.
My grandfather had Parkinsons as well
I was too young to really know a lot about it, but he had a mechanical chair that let him stand up
We used to play with it when he wasn’t home
He died at the age of 65 of a heart attack just a few months after retiring
Very sad. My nan has been alone for over 20 years without him
It’s a ■■■■deal @Aziz I think we all have a right to be angry with treatment options
They really need to address this with new medications
That “new medication” – the miracle one – has been around the corner my entire life. Probably still will be when I die. Geodon doesn’t deal with symptoms better than drugs I’ve been on in the past, but it doesn’t plump you up or tire you out quite as much. That’s the main improvement I’ve seen.
Latuda is the most modern one we have here in England. I’d review it about the same, except I am getting horrible restlessness after taking the dose with a meal. So bad that I have to go straight to bed sometimes because being awake is so unbearable.
Yet this is the best we have. Haloperidol and Flupentixol are far worse for side effects, so I have to take something and this is it, for now
As for @Aziz 's list of side effects from messing with dopamine, it’s hard to say whether the trade off between that and having untreatable psychosis is worth it for the individual, society or both.
Who benefits most from chemical restraints ?
Guess it’s better than a straight jacket and a dirty cell for life in an asylum
Although there are challenges, we’re still better off than the people who came before us in how we’re treated
Like all solutions though, it’s a complex problem and nothing is simple when it comes to solving it
I have heard people in my life on medication (Mainly elderly) who take more pills for side effects than they do to treat something
We’re not alone in this complaint
I only have so much energy and it is even more limited now that I’ve hit middle age. I don’t want to waste it ruminating over things I have no control over. I can’t affect lack of treatment options in my community or the fact that even the best meds are still sort of shite. So I’m going to finish my coffee and go out and photograph some flowers. Get out of my head.
Cheers mate.
My grandpa had Parkinson’s. Prior to being diagnosed with it he had T2D and hypertension for years.
He was lucky I guess. Lived till 82 or something. Timely treatment helped him.
lol the doctors know that lack of dopamine causes all sorts of side effects, but they would rather szs are fat, dormant zombies than delusional and psychotic.
What gets me is that they act surprised when medicated szs become despondent , have enormous negative symptoms and don’t do anything! I mean you force people to take these pills and then seem oblivious to their effects.
“I’m going to chemical cosh you with this medication and I can’t understand why you don’t want to do anything!”
It is silly really, the lack of logic.
That’s a real pretty picture. Beautiful nature and weather. Food for the soul.
yea i really like that picture. great view =D
I am envious. You live in such a beautiful country.
