I feel really bad, but when I am on the phone to my partner or anyone else for that matter (though I spend more time on the phone with him than anyone else), I can’t wait to put the phone down. He explains things in extreme detail and I just cannot concentrate on what he’s saying when he gives me details. I get distracted mid conversation with other things. I zone out, and I can’t focus it’s very frustrating.
I’m not sure if its mental illness related. I get the feeling of sitting through an annoying lecture when talking to people sometimes.
Could be a SZ psychosis thing but really sounds like ADHD as well.
Fine details could be an autistic trait
I have that and it feels very unattentive to that other person. But I can’t help it.
It is mostly when I am preoccupied by trauma thoughts or tired.
For me I think it is ptsd plus damage from meds/psychosis.
I heard people with autism hate phone calls sometimes
I don’t have autism, but I have this trait very often. I have both schizophrenia and ADHD.
I do, but I am ok with certain people calling…
It sounds like attention deficit disorder. Can you get evaluated?
the assessor for autism told me to get assessed for ADHD but I will wait to get back from holiday.
Ok. Makes sense.
Happy birthday @LilyoftheValley ![]()
Thanks @anon25873142 !!!
Maybe he is just annoying to talk to?
Lets face it , no one is as annoying as me,… I just struggle when people take long to explain something…
I love my wife more than anyone else, but I could do without the half-hour-long discourses on the latest in AI developments. I would rather discuss foodie stuff with her. You’re not a bad person if you have issues talking with your partner in some situations, you’re just human.
@anon25873142 It really sounds like ADHD. People with ADHD have a hard time focusing. Especially on details. I would get evaluated for it if I were you.
