What’s your reason for being on the shots instead of pills?
I’m on shot and pills. I like shot. I wish I could have all my aps in injection
Im on the shot and a daily dose of pills. I need the both together.
The shot is just so much easier - i know im not gonna go psychotic if i have missed a couple days worth of pills.
I’m on the shot because I’m usually not med compliant.
thats my reason too
I used to be on shots decades ago when I was non-compliant with meds. This helped get me stable enough that I developed the insight to (mostly) stay on meds. The few times I have gone off were when I was on meds with frustrating side-effects. I’m very happy that Geodon works for me and that the side-effects are next to nothing now.
I’m on clozapine and Invega shot, seems to work well.
That’s why they put me on the Haldol shot. I didn’t like it, but now that I have found Geodon and Seroquel I am much more med compliant.
The Haldol shot was the best one for me when i was on it years ago. All the symptoms were stopped dead. I couldnt tolerate it tho unfortunatly, it was too heavy.
My med combo does me alright tho.
I don’t like even a little bit of Haldol. The years I was on it were the worst years of my life.
I was not med compliant so they put me on a low dose of risperidone.
I will say that after a year i havent been dealing with disembodied voices as much and my thinking is better. I still have major brain fog tho, its much worse on meds.
I have no problem with haldol shot.
what did the risperidone do to your med compliance
I have to go every 2 weeks to the doctor for injection or the police will come get me. I have been thinking of running away and living on hastings in vancouver tho or be homeless someplace.
what would the police do? involuntary admission? im scared of that too but probably not gonna happen since im staying on the injection
Id like the option to be on shots but I think they’d rather not unless I gave them reason to , it must cost them a lot to put people on shots (in UK)
ur brain fog got worse on meds?
That’s good, but I really hate the drug. It just goes to show that the same med. can have different effects on people. I knew a guy who could take any amount of Stellazine, and it had no effect on him. Pretty much all the typical ap’s make me feel really, really bad.
Getting a shot is more convenient.
I go to my clinic once a month and get a shot and then I don’t have to bother with remembering to take two additional pills each night.
Getting a shot also means I don’t have to worry about running out of risperidone pills and also saves me a trip to the pharmacy every two or three weeks.
I take other medications and having even just one less bottle to bother with is a plus.
