Is there any hope for me

Is it possible that your manager said same thing to your colleague?

Managers pit you against others so that you try to outwork each other.

Most of work life is figuring out and dealing with work politics. Which creates more headache than doing 50 bookings.

So what if you’re not liked? Work isn’t mainly a popularity contest, you’re there to get the tasks done. I’m hardly ever liked at all my jobs. Of course I’m pleasantly surprised if someone likes me but I’m there to do a job and earn money and I’m content being a loner.

It’s a difficult one, its not just that I am not liked, my work is not liked which makes me feel worse… so I then end up quitting.

Why is your work not liked? Is it always that way? I mean, can’t you learn what they teach you? I got fired at Macy’s for not learning fast enough but most jobs I learn enough to survive. At Target I couldn’t memorize all the stock numbers and they took me off truck unloading and put me on just stocking shelves.

At Kohl’s department store they gave me some leeway. I never did learn all the stock numbers, when I had to put something away I asked someone else what the stock number was. And I never learned how to set up the hand held computerized ticket maker and everybody else knew how how to do it. And I never learned to work the cash register when virtually everyone else was required to do it except me but I lasted three years there anyways, they gave me a lot of leeway.

I’m certainly not the perfect worker but at my jobs I learned most of what they taught me. Are you just not learning fast. enough? Because you can work on improving that.
