overall it has a bad name imo
It is on a spectrum a bit and there are differences in what one can experience and be considered schizophrenic. In general it is misunderstood I think.

Yes SZ is definitely misunderstood by the public.
Heck! Most people never heard of Schizoaffective before.
They constantly believe falsely that SZ is some sort of dangerous personality disorder similar to sociopathy.
