Santa is not real, he is a production of capitalism ideology and its ‘invisible arm’, a big machinery embodied in all those corporations that feed us with crap.
But elves, they are a real heroes, they make presents in a big chocolate factory and they do exist.
We had a socialist provincial government elected this spring. It has caused a lot of job losses. We had a leftist government elected federally a week or so ago and we’ve already seen our dollar drop. Going to be a long four years (or longer).
There is nothing wrong with giving gifts when it is Christmas, even small gifts, I have listened stories of some old men and how they got just a box of candies during the years of the 2nd ww, and they were happy with these candies. Giving is most important.
He looks possibly dangerous. If he isn’t dangerous, then yes, I want him to visit! If he is dangerous, then I just want to borrow his hat and staff. No visit.

But seriously, idea of Santa is just an instrument of society’s symbolic power; and which society exactly probably belongs to another discussion.
