I gotta turn in a paper Saturday.
Just hit save as and select docx
If you just save the file, it’s automatically a docx. That’s the type of file that Word makes.
If you’re using another application and need to convert it to a docx, then you should be able to find a “save as” on the drop down menus. (I have a Mac, don’t know what you have), and then choose docx.
I have a Mac. Thanks.
File …save as … select docx
Sorry you already said it
How do I write it though?
Just open word and write it… then click save as and click docx
Do you have Word or do you have Pages? If it’s a newer Mac, Pages should be automatically installed.
If you have Pages, just open that and write your document.
Pages and Word are now interchangeable.
That means you can “save as” your Pages file in a separate Word docx. And then send that to whomever wants it. If they send a Word docx back, you can still open it and read it with Pages.
I don’t know if I have either of them.
Ok. Check the bottom of your screen. Is there a row of little pictures/icons for different things/programs?
Yes.

Perfect.
Now find the one that looks like a piece of written paper with an orange background and a pencil on it. Double click it, and that will open pages.
You’ll get a menu of all different formats you can use, but “blank page” should be highlighted. So just click on the box that says “new document”.
Ok thanks. I’ll do that when I get home to my laptop.
Ok! Let me know how it goes.
Office 365 is easy to get but it’s about $100 per year. I think they have it for Mac. I have a pc
when you go to save it from Office or whatever you got,
hit the down arrow on file. If you have Word installed click on that.
should be fine, but I’ve had problems using FireFox or others,
can only use Google chrome.
I use Openoffice since I dont feel like paying for office365 right now lol. All hail opensource!
