I felt good on a higher dose but they took my plasma levels and reduced me to this dose been on for couple years at this low dose
I am still not 100% I still have debilitating problems with breakthrough symptoms they told me clozaril was a really amazing drug. I have tried nearly all of antipsychotics and had the same problems I suppose I am able to live independently for last 10 years and try very hard. I go college and charity work
Right now I’m sitting tight and hoping for better medications
I took clozapine for 4 years, at 800 mg per day. It is supposed to be dosed every 12 hours, because that’s how long its effects last. So, taking your full dose only once per day would leave you with approximately 12 hours of the day without any active clozapine effect.
HOWEVER, because morning doses of clozapine cause so much somnolence, it is reasonable for you to discuss with your doctor modifying the dose/schedule.
My doctor was very accommodating when I requested, and ended up prescribing only 150 mg in the am and the remaining 650 at night. Sure, I did experience a slight increase in daytime symptoms, but that was much better than waking up tired, and then taking meds that made me fall right back asleep within 2-3 hours.
Quality of life as a whole should be considered with treatment–not just symptom reduction.
I hope you and your doc can agree on something that improves your quality of life.
I’m on 300mg of Clozapine at night, I used to take 100mg or 125mg in the daytime but that has been replaced with 37.5mg of fluvoxamine because it was too tiring for me too.
For a time I was on 450mg of Clozapine at night, but I had a bad bout of colitis and had to stay in the hospital for 3 days, it wasn’t pleasant. They suspected it was too much for me.
Yes, its possible to take the complete dose at bed time. Just discuss it with your doctor.
I’m on low dose 100mg which i take at bed time. It works for my psychosis. I tried taking 50mg in the morning but that would make me very tired and sleepy, so i shifted it to bed time.
Hello
My son was just prescribed this medication to help with paronia pyscois. They started him off on 25mg at bedtime but today bumped him up to 50mg at bedtime.
It’s only been 3 days before the bump.
I honestly haven’t seen a change. How long does this medication begin to wrok.
