Is it possible to have a reply identify the person/icon every time? And show up an an @msg?

I find it to be a little inconsistent and unclear. Please please please

When you reply directly to the comment above you, the icon doesn’t show up. When you reply to a comment two or more above yours, the icon shows up to show what you were replying to. The @Moonwalker tag pops up ever time you type the @ symbol, but you can only tag 10 people per post.

Yes , id like it to behave like it does when you reply a couple comments up on every comment. Keeping it the same and simple. Plus if you look away from the thread you never get notified of those messages that were right below yours

Apparently, it also doesn’t show up when you’re replying to the starting post in a topic.

That could be fixed too. I’d say the only time you don’t get notified should be when some replies using the icon at the bottom. Keeping it consistent

You can change whether you get notified of new posts on a topic by going to the bottom and changing the setting. Edit: see below

We can’t make the icon show up for every reply, because the software doesn’t support that. Just assume a reply is referring directly to the comment above it unless otherwise indicated.

This screenshot explains it better than me, actually.

You can also change your personal settings to watch or mute specific categories, automatically track every topic you read, or mute specific users

Many thanks for that info. I was already set to tracking but I set another option to track immediately.

I would still like to see people’s reply target on every post. It’s just a wish, but is that at all possible on your end?

I really think this software is great, and so are the mods

No, unfortunately not. We use Discourse software, and we only have access to the features provided by discourse. Just assume someone is replying to the comment above them unless otherwise indicated.

And thank you

Ohhh that explains a lot I get confused sometimes as well

"When there is
* one, and only one reply
* that reply is directly under the post it is replying to
reply metadata is suppressed."
