Is it possible to be cured of schizophrenia?

Is it possible to be cured? I’ve been going through this for 10 years and it has only gotten slightly better.

I think most sources will say that there is no cure for schizophrenia at the current time. Remission of symptoms is certainly possible though.

Hmm I don’t know. If we’re lucky the newer medications that comes out has less side effects and works effectively.

If you can give me a med with almost zero noticeable side effects, and works effectively for symptoms, I would definitely count that as a cure for schizophrenia.

I’m not cured, but I have learned how to manage the illness to my satisfaction and have a life in spite of it.

What @Bowens said
When your positive and negative happens you brain does feel emotions but the brain isnt “responding”.
Social factors can help manage these symptoms in social groups with other schizophrenics.
I experienced over time in 4 years being medicated, going to groups, taking breaks, then try socializing (Understanding life).
If you try understanding life in the way you perceive it then youll have problems understanding because of symptoms. So try taking breaks from going outside.

Every single F2F meeting with other SZs has been a train wreck for me.

Crap advice. We should spend more time outside and less time inside staring at screens.

It is possible to be cured of all the pathological parts of Schizophrenia. What helped me is analyzing every thought that crosses my mind and taking minimal medication so that if I am psychotic I can use this technique so I can still function. This trains your mind to discard paranoid delusions and hallucinations since you put in all the mental work of learning to be more self-aware. You also learn a lot about yourself and your purpose this way.

It’s not possible now but it will be possible 15-20 years from now by using stem cells therapy

I don’t think you can be cured. But with the right meds you can live a good life. The biggest mistake Sz- people make is quit their medication.

Correction: I’d say the biggest mistake is that SZs like call the shots with their meds when it’s better to let an experienced doctor handle that bit.

My 2 cents.

If you out to go to social groups ever week. Thats not a good idea. At least 1-2 times to go social groups is fine. But youll need a break from that.
When your in the breaks you have time to have real life socializing in what people popularity.
Its mostly about forcing yourself in crowded areas.
Some criwded areas has quietu places.

I’ve been sober for over 30 years because of regularly attending AA meetings.

I have no idea what you’re saying. It also sounds like you have no idea what you’re saying - it’s word salad.

For me thats a no. Still get episodes even when l am on meds.

You got to socialize in places you’ve never been into.

Please explain why.

Socializing in the places you don’t like

He doesn’t like those places because the brain is used to being indoors all day. So the brain doesn’t know what’s out there.

This is incredibly dumb.

I know
It’s literally exercising the mind
I’m not trying to torture

But that’s how many schizophrenics experience
They can’t be in OCD all day and staying indoors
They have to try to be normal like other normal people

I think you need stronger medicine, you are speaking word salad
