Is it even possible to lose weight on seroquel(quetiapine)

Specifically if anyone has done it.

I’m finding it really hard to fight food cravings on it. It’s frustrating

Doing some research, apparently it’s just one of those drugs that raises blood sugar, causes cravings and in time causes insulin resistance.

Sorry to say, I only lost weight after I discontinued using Quetiapine; when I was on it. I was somnolent as hell

Thanks for the response.

In the months I’ve been on it I went from 260 to 270 back down to 265

All my cardio, lifts, everything is improving. It’s just the damn food cravings at times.

Man, i hear you! I just got switched off Zyprexa to Latuda but i just can’t stop feeling hungry! I didn’t lose 150 lbs just so the meds make me gain it all back. I’m fighting the cravings but I’m not being very successful at it. I exercise a lot, too, but you know the saying “you can’t out exercise a bad diet!”

FROM zyprexa to latuda? That should be an improvement, hang in there I’d say. It might be a temporary side effect from the switch.
Switching can be rough and side effects are the worst when just starting a med

I know for a fact you’d be more likely to gain on zyprexa than latuda

Congrats on 150 pounds loss that’s amazing

It’s possible to lose weight on every AP.

But… certain ones make it more difficult than others.

I only re-started Olanzapine just about 2 weeks ago and i’m already back to being a food monster lol.

It’s possible to lose weight on Olanzapine. It just makes it much, much more difficult.

@TheCanuk yeah I feel the best on quetiapine and olanzapine when I was on it compared to other APs. But damn it’s easy to let yourself go on em, and I’ve done it before so a little worried about it happening again, although I’m much more aware of needing self improvement

I take 100 mg Seroquel and .5 Haldol. I lost 25 pounds this year, time-restricted eating (6 hour eating window) and low net carbs (grams of carbs minus grams of fiber) a concept of The New Atkins diet. At age 76 I do not exercise hard.

i stayed thin for years on seroquel. im starting to wonder if it has decreased my appetite all the years i took it.

this is what im doing to lose on my current meds. fasting helps a lot and counting either carbs, calories, or both.
