They are very different.

No. I have numerous Aspie friends (I used to run a large I.T. community) and delusions and hallucinations are generally not a feature of the condition. Having a meltdown because the way the manual for your Cisco router was put together is annoying and wrong, is.

I’m the odd man out in that crowd as I present with both autism and SZ.

I had paranoia growing up but not really delusions.

I don’t have SZ necessarily but I’ve had delusions and I have autism

That means you have something with the autism.

Schizoaffective + Asperger’s. Social communication =3 (autism level); Social interaction = 5 (Asperger’s level)

Asperger’s is autism though?

who cares? It’s all the same to BIG PHARMA. You’re different. They can study you.

The people assessing me were doing so using the ICD 10… Autism re that means -

When something has two different names, it’s usually because it’s two separate things.

“Big Pharma” is the best thing to happen to schizophrenics in centuries. Instead of having a trepanner go to town on your skull, you can take a few pills each night and no longer believe you are an all-seeing pickle who descended from outer space.

If you’re schizophrenic, meds are good for you. Also you have a disease that programs you to think you’re not sick, please keep that in mind.

This belief that any source that makes money is inherently evil is dangerous. You could, for example, say “big public education wants to control your kids’ minds” because they pay their teachers a salary.

In the US at least, aspbergers is now just called autism. They stepped away from the distinction, because the difference between aspberger’s and more severe autism seems to be how good the person is at pretending to be normal, rather than any distinct neurological or psychological differences.

hmm i wonder why i got asperger dx, i cant pretend to be normal in anyones opinion

Generally, people with Aspberger’s do a better job pretending than people with regular autism. But like I said, there isn’t really a difference.

There is level of function. Hard for those who are non-verbal to pretend.

Yes, but there are plenty of verbal autistics who wouldn’t get an aspberger’s diagnosis and plenty of nonverbal autistics who pass for deaf because they are adept at sign language and good at masking their other traits.
