Is a sociopath the same as antisocial disorder?
I think so, antisocial personality disorder is a diagnosis but sociopathy and psicopathy aren’t.

Yeah because I was thinking about clockwork orange, and I immediately thought “sociopath” about Alex but then I remembered what @cj9556 described as aspd, and it fit him too. So it seemed like the same thing.
The diagnostic system is not much more than for legal and insurance claims.
Sociopaths have lower empathy and just don’t care and are more hotheaded.
Psychopaths have zero empathy and can’t care unless massively intervened as kids and also directed into changing behaviors despite thoughts and feelings being the same, and they are cold instead of hot. You cannot make a psychopath get very anger at you; they do not express emotions like anger the same way we do. They just boil under the surface and remain charming and energetic then strike when the time is right, no matter how long it takes to find an opportunity.
It is actually pretty complex…but they are degrees of the same underlying personality trait. The trait is that they are selfish to the core.

Sooo , diagnose Alex in a clockwork orange for me! If you’ve seen it. It says he’s a sociopath on Wikipedia and he was similar to the sociopaths in the sober house to a greater extreme, but I get mixed opinions when googling it. Have you seen that movie @mortimermouse ? If not you should

In a study published in 2013 in the journal Assessment, a team of researchers from Florida State University compared the criteria for antisocial personality disorder to the personality traits associated with psychopathy. These researchers concluded that the antisocial personality disorder definition captures many of the deviant or abnormal behaviors associated with psychopathy, but does not capture many of the psychopathic personality traits classified as interpersonal traits or affective traits.
They are different, but the DSM still groups them under the same classification.
