I have been on 2.5mg for a month now.
When I took abilify I also started on 2.5 mg. Your doc will most likely up it when u go back for a visit
I have been coming down from 10mg for a couple of months now. 10 to 7.5 to 5 to 2.5 to 1mg to 0.

It had to have done SOMETHING if it kept the psychosis away for 8 years.

I feel pretty alright, for now at least. No real positive symptoms to talk of (hallucinations, delusions). Some intrusive thoughts but thats about it and some disorganized thinking. Well see how i am doing in a few months and years from now.

Were u prodromal when u were prescribed 5mg of abilify? Were u hearing voices? Did u have a psychotic episode before hand?

I had a psychosis. Ability that was the third med we tried in the beginning stages.

It was 8 years ago… But I had delusions … I don’t remember too much unfortunately

Mine will be 20mgs but currently I’m taking 10. Working my way up.
I just started for a week on 5mg and so far I really like Abilify!
However, does a higher dosage work more activating or does a higher dosage causes sedation?
Are u taking anything else?

Abilify is activating. Get on a high dose asap and see.
I never cared for low doses i wanted to be symptom free so i rushed for high doses.
Abilify just gave me white lines behind my eyes when i closed them, very activating.
I unfortunately couldnt sleep from it though

Clonazepam 1/1.5mg a day for anxiety and paranoia. 20mg Parnate (MAOI class antidepressant). 15mg Mirtazapine for sleep.

Hmm… if it’s activating… that’s good! Yeah… that worries me a bit, I already suffer from sleep maintenance insomnia and haven’t found a med to counter it.
Yea but atleast it doesnt make you drowsy.
Im on zyprexa and it makes me slightly drowsy. But not bad.
I wish abilify wasnt so activating it seemed so good, i wish i could take it
Maybe, maybe not. The dose of Abilify has to be titrated to effectiveness as judged by you and your physician. The only way to know is to monitor your symptoms and response to treatment.
i saw an improvement in things before ever even hitting 10 mg, lots of improvement in mood, less sensitive, less agitated (autism thing linked to sensory problems i think), and the “hallucinations” i was experiencing generally subsided. they were more like illusions though. my paranoia didnt return to baseline until i hit 15 mg though and i still occasionally would have some weird perceptions before then too (hearing people i knew saying things to me, it sounded half like it was in my head and half like it was outside, very rarely hearing someone say something without their mouth opening, hearing phones ringing inside my head)
