Irritability - Does Abilify cause this?

I’m having a huge issue with my spending an I am not sure if its linked to the Abilify. I have strong urges to buy things, and I couldn’t care less how much it cost. Like right now I want to buy a house and I am getting into arguments over it with my mother. I cannot control it what is wrong with me?

Sorry to hear that.I something’s spiral into a bad spending spree on gaming stuff which are totally unnecessary.I remember last year I had 2000++ ringgit in my bank account but in just less than a month,I finished the money inside all on gaming,it’s very sad when I think back.I think I spend like this because I am feeling bad in real life and needed an escape, but for me these unnecessary spending always doesn’t last more than 2 months and I defitnately do not want to have another spending spree and hope you get out of this soon just like I did

That’s the thing this has been going on for months and months and when it stops it doesn’t stop for very long.

Are you in any Talk therapy or group therapy?Braving up and attend a support group, official or unofficial can help you.I find talking to any people that can relate helps

You could be suffering from some mania with some impulsive behavior - you could be a good candidate for a mood stabilizer, the Abilify might not be controlling it well.

I would speak to your pdoc ASAP

Ive heard a psychiatrist who deals with criminally insane say that Abilify actually worsened aggresive behaviour. This was also my experience, but my own psychiatrist denied it. There is some hyperactive/ irritability with Abilify. Perhaps only for some.

I checked the criteria and this is my only symptom. I do not appear manic or anything.

You could be experiencing subtle hypomania - its hard to pick up sometimes
Irritability is part of it

Disabilify. Horrible drug. Seen too many people suffer on it. I personally know a guy who was on it and landed in the hospital twice since I’ve met him, and I met him this year. Heard stories about it on here.

It’s a nonsense drug. Used to treat depression. Used to treat mania. Used to treat psychosis. Induces psychosis. Used to neuter cats and dogs. Not used by Mouse for obvious reasons. Dopamine agonist. The rest are antagonists.

@anon80629714, I’m on 7.5mg same as you, and it’s causing major problems. I’m going back to 10mg. 7.5 mg seems to be causing more problems than its solving. 7.5mg is sub therapeutic anyway. I was desperate as 10mg gives me major anxiety, but 7.5mg just causes more mental issues.

I honestly can’t win on abilify, so will probably be the first gunnea pig to try it’s successor when it’s out in august.

What I’m saying is try 10mg, the recommended therapeutic dose.

Edit: to answer your original question :Irritability - Does Abilify cause this?

I had to stop posting here since I switched to 7.5mg as I became so bitter, and I was afraid it would still over into my posts.
