Hello there. I am new to the forums and would like to introduce myself. I found the forums after searching for a schizophrenia support group in my area, and researching different things about my condition. I started experiencing symptoms in 2008 at the age of 11, but wasn’t diagnosed until January of 2014, right before which my condition began to rapidly progress. After 2 years on the medicine, I am doing better than I have ever done in a long time. I still struggle every day with my schizophrenia, and the side effects of my meds, especially the withdrawal effects when I try to get off of them. I am very grateful for such a forum as this, because I don’t know a single soul with schizophrenia, and maybe I could make a few friends here. Thanks for reading, those who do. Feel free to introduce yourselves below and let me know how you’re doing, when you were diagnosed, yknow, just different things about you, to get to know you better.
Welcome to the forum @chessai Is a welcoming and supporting lot here hope you enjoy your time with us
Thanks @Derpygirl!
welcome to the forum. Lots of support here on this site. good luck.
thanks @jukebox!
I hope to be recovery bound, eventually. I don’t really see it happening though. Not saying it’s impossible, just that it’s hard for me to imagine. I play a lot of Chess and Go, program a little, study mathematics when I’m feeling alright.
Welcome! Hope you find the support you need in this community.
welcome on board…@chessai…
You’re always welcome here.
Welcome to the forum… It’s a pretty friendly and supportive site.
Hi, Chessai! Welcome to the forum!
hey
take care
Hi and welcome @chessai
Another person with pediatric schizophrenia like me! I got mine way before the age people get in on average too.
Welcome to the forum.
Welcome. This is a good place to be. @chessai
Welcome! Yeah, this is a good place. It might look like a bunch of nutters, (and well, it sort of is) but nuts come in all sorts of varieties. There are all sorts of people from all over the world on here, and we all have the same struggle.
It’s good to know that when we face our fears, people like us are happy to see us do it. People on here not only share struggles and ask for advice, but they also share successes and give advice.
It’s good. It’s empowering to others when one of us hits a milestone or bounces back from a painful and damaging attack on our humanity. My whole thing is that I see our humanity belittled because we are ill, but my stance is that we are more human because we have more suffering, suffering in the manner in which we are, suffering from losing the control of the most complex thing in the universe, the human brain, is very much unique to humans.
It’s good that you are aware of your condition and know what is good for yourself at your age. I was legitimately insane at 18 and didn’t recover my sanity until I was 20. I’m 22 now.
@schizofriendia when did yours start?
I don’t know with great accuracy due to the age, probably around 5.
Welcome! Everyone is super nice here and you’ll like it a lot.
As for me, I’ve had symptoms since 2014 and just got diagnosed very recently. Feel free to message me if ya need anything!
