Instructions from disability attorney

I received a bunch of paperwork from the attorney and one of the sections says I should be aware that judges are able to access our social media accounts.

What the heck does that mean? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Sounds like a breach of privacy, to me. :speak_no_evil_monkey::speak_no_evil_monkey::speak_no_evil_monkey:

Administrative Law Judges (ALJs) do not look at your social media unless the Continuing Disability Investigation Unit (CDIU) asks the judge to do so. You’re applying for SSDI, so the CDIU is not relevant. The CDIU is looking for fraud from current SSDI recipients. For example, if a person is receiving SSDI for a back injury, and the CDIU looks at their Facebook page which has photos of them running a marathon, they may lose their SSDI.

Here is a video that you may find helpful (10:00-11:00 minute mark is a summation):

I should have wrote Cooperative Disability Investigations Units (CDIU).

You may want to ask your lawyer what it means. I know there’s a lot of paperwork, but take things one step at a time, and don’t hesitate to ask your lawyer any and all questions you may have.

Good luck :+1:

Thanks @Catman. That clears some of it up.

No marathon running pics. :winking_face_with_tongue:

Or I suppose something a person who struggles with anxiety and depression would have trouble doing, like attending a party or giving a speech lol.

I’m sorry that it is like that . I doubt they check it anyways.
