Hi all, wondering if there’s a way to increase dopamine just a little bit -
I’ve found drinking a sugary drink does the job, but obv sugar isn’t that healthy.
Watermelon makes me irritated - too much sugar!!
I’ve heard tyrosine isn’t helpful because people get symptoms returning.
Drinking a sugary drink will increase serotonin. Serotonin is the one which helps you feel relaxed and at ease. Dopamine is for pleasure and concentration and feelings of wanting. Get your stuff right before you give people advice! JK. Like ninjastar said caffeine and amphetamines will increase dopamine. Adderall is one option, but you are likely to become psychotic. Many foods which have animal protein increase dopamine, like beef etc. Wellbutrin increases dopamine.
There is more to feeling good than just dopamine, there are half a dozen other neurotransmitters which make you happy and contented. Acetylcholine, Serotonin (5ht), Norepinephrine, Glutamate and Histamine. Brain scientists can only theorize about what will make you happier, that’s why the medicines we take target multiple neurotransmitters, not just dopamine. It is an extremely delicate and complicated balance, not just more dopamine=feeling good.
