5 days ago I knew I had a sinus infection. tues I went to the er because I couldn’t sleep from the pain. sound hurt, vision was acting up, I couldn’t breath, face pain, irratible ect… they put me on antibiotics.
it has improved some but I dont think I’m out of the woods yet. how long should i give the antibiotics before I go back?
I’m trying to not rack up unnecessary er bills. but i feel rough. sound is no longer painful and I’m not going through bottle after bottle of saline. but my regular meds dont seem to be working very well and I’m still only taking naps.
*the last sinus infection I had was going to my brain and I was put in the icu for 3 days on an iv bag full of antibiotics and pain killers.
I’m not qualified to tell you how to use antibiotics, but I remember one time I had a boil on my arm, and when I took antibiotics the boil hurt more. I guess it was the pain of healing.
I totally understand not wanting to run up hospital and doctor bills. However, if you’ve had problems that severe in the past, you should be super careful. I would take the full course of antibiotics but if things don’t get better, definitely go back again.
Does the ER have a medical advice number you can call? Many ERs have this 24/7 where an advice nurse can answer questions and help you determine if you need to be seen again.
Given your past history, you need to be careful and extra vigilant. Is there an urgent care you can go to? They’re usually less expensive than the ER.
EDIT: Good to see you on the forum again @flameoftherhine. I hope you feel better soon.
