I know it’s not good. And it’s only £5 I needed to pay for the gift. I’m probably the only one in my group not doing it. So I thought I’d give each 6 people a scratch card with their Christmas card. Is that appropriate?
I don’t know. Why arent you doing it?
I just don’t like recieiving gifts. I know. Lame. When I was younger and I received a gift I was always made to give it back
Maybe you can go against that for a years see how it feels. Or maybe don’t participate at all. If it makes you that unconfortable.
Im not participating I did it last year though. But I got this idea from someone else who put a ticket in my card.
for me its all about giving not receiving
Do you mean a lottery ticket? Won’t six scratch-offs cost the same as one gift? But yeah, six scratch-off tickets isn’t a bad idea. My step-mother used to put a scratch-off ticket in our cards each year. I liked getting those.
Yes I do mean lottery ticket I just wanted to make sure it’s aprropriate not to offend anyone. I know it’s the same price as the gift but like I said I wasn’t comfortable with the whole secret Santa thing.
Maybe you can go to whoever is in charge of organizing the Secret Santa and ask him if it’s OK. What don’t you like about doing the Secret Santa?
I’m not sure I need to ask permission I don’t think it’s a gift if they don’t win
Lol I’m hoping to do this before secret Santa anyway
i think it’s still a gift even if they don’t win. It’s the thrill you get by thinking you might win. Just like gambling in a casino but on a smaller scale. I would just talk about your plans before you do them. I mean in a way, not going along with the Secret Santa thing at your office is not a big deal but in another way, not doing it is a big deal. Maybe I’m analyzing this too much, but going along with it kind of shows the Christmas spirit and and it’s good gesture because it shows good will towards your co-workers.
OOOOOOOOOH!!! DO IT!!! I love secret santa… let’s see if I will be hired by then to even attend the christmas party… last year at my job I just bought a starbucks mug in a red box, it makes a great present and it was 13$
why you don’t want to receive a present?! if you don’t like it, just give it to your cousin or something…
I’ve received a lot of crap through the years though… a foot massage box, a stuffed santa clause, a soup bowl with cappuccino, a bath robe…
