I think homemade food with good ingredients is much better than any takeaway. I find homemade food more satisfying. I had Cumberland sausages with onion gravy, mashed potatoes and peas todays for my evening meal and it was very nice. I love classic British food the best. Home comfort food. What do you prefer?
Quite often get half a leg of lamb for 20 quid - and invite a neighbour over.
I cooked almost every meal at home. It’s usually better than what we get in restaurants
Lovely, don’t forger the mint sauce lol
lol. Oh i dont. I do cheat on the roast potatoes tho, i buy the fancy ones dipped in duck fat and chuck them in the air fryer for 10 minutes lol.
I like some once in a while, but it is hard on the arteries. Chips and egg, bubble and squeak, and bangers and mash are all up there. I tend toward the Mediterranean diet these days. It is more heart healthy and has more flavour.
I make my roasties the classic way, boil for then minutes then stick in the oven coated in olive old and sea salt and pepper. I love a roast dinner.
I like comfort food a lot.
home cooked meals are much healthier. i heard restaurants load their meals up with a lot of salt and oil thats why they might taste better but a home cooked meal ultimately will make you feel better. More vegetables and such as well
mama knows best
I’m roasting spuds in the air fryer for the first time doing this
I like crispy roast potatoes sometimes
Yeah they dont take too long. If they are just normal pots that you have cut up - just drizzle a bit of sunflower oil over them. Salt and pepper before you cook them as well makes them tasty.
cool
the air fryer is a great invention in fairness , fast cooking like
me dad is eating them now, I will ave them later
I had strawberries (it’s the season) and quark for dinner.
Fresh and delicious.
Since the pandemic i only have eat from restaurants maybe 10 times.
I think most my adult life I wasted so much money cause i couldnt cook.
I make mostly basic keto dishes. A lot of omlettes and salads and cauliflower rice dishes. 2 or 3 ingredient meals.
My psychiatrist recommended me a book with recipes that are simple and healthy for the brain.
Written by a psychiatrist (in Dutch);
That is good. yeah my pdoc has helped me with meal planning too.
its really helped.
book sounds interesting.
I really should cook more - instead of ordering in. You dont exactly want to do a slap up dinner when you live on your own tho - you just waste the food.
You can make big pots of soup or stew or chile or casseroles and eat one serving and freeze the rest. Most things will stay good in the freezer a couple of months or more. Just like you can cook a whole chicken or pork roast or beef roast and keep a couple of servings in the refrigerator and freeze the rest.
This is actually a great idea but it seems like it would be a hassle and take a lot of time but it really doesn’t. Buy a package of 30 freezer bags and you can stick one or two servings in a bag and just stick it straight in the freezer. Once you do it once or twice you’ll see it is easy to do and doesn’t take long.
Yeah Good Idea. Funnily enough i used to years ago - but ive got lazy. I only sort of cook properly when i got guests over these days.
I used to cook for the other residents when i was in the residential home - but unless its for other people i dont bother.
I am down to eating meat a couple times per week. Too much meat and I’m up all night burping now. Eggs, beans, and lentils are my new friends. (And protein supplements.)
