I'm cycling up and down

It’s like I am rapidly going through mood swings like I’m bipolar, but going through that much faster than a real bipolar would. It could be something like a borderline personality disorder. A couple of nights ago I suddenly went from a happy, manic mood to one of rage. A lot of it has to do with my sugar consumption. I’ve gotten to where I get depressed if I don’t consume huge amounts of sugar. The sugar in fruit juices can pick me up for a little bit, but the regular sugar is what picks me up the best.

Have you been tested for diabetes ?

I asked my doctor about that, and he said there were no signs of it.

Can you see a Nutritionist to help you with your diet? Maybe get some alternatives to sugar to help keep your energy levels more steady.
I eat too much sugar. I also need to work on this.

The problem is that I like the sugar. I’ve craved sugar all my life. If there was a batch of chocolate chip cookies I would eat seventeen of them. I piled the sugar on everything.

Yes, I do too. It gives a little high for sure. It is possible to eat less of it and have a more steady mood.
Foods are like any ingredient we can use to either stabilize or swing up or down. Maybe not as powerful as drugs, but sugar especially is similar.
If you really want to cut down, you can talk with your doctor, or a nutritionist, or just look up articles on healthy eating.
It’s hard to do, I know. I’m trying to cut down on sugar myself. It’s a process.

One thing that sometimes picks me up when I am down is doing a couple of sets of plyometrics. I might do that this afternoon.

You could be rapid cycling. I have it, and it’s what you described.

One, sugar is highly addictive and can cause mood swings and irritation when going through sugar withdrawal. I have been off almost all processed sugar for four years now and I feel great. (Well…physically). I still get the occasional ice cream…

It could be rapid cycling bipolar disorder or borderline personality. I have bipolar 2 in addition to schizophrenia so I know about mood swings. Are you on a mood stabilizer? Lamictal has been great for me. I haven’t been depressed sense I started taking it, although I’ve been hypomania a few times.
