Hello everyone, I’m new here and I need more help understanding exactly what schizo affective disorder is. I believed I had schizophrenia for a while until my psychiatrist insisted it wasn’t that. I’m not one to self diagnose most times but I just don’t feel like what I’m feeling is just that simple. The voices, the shadows and the thoughts in my mind are very vivid and scary sometimes but I don’t say much because I don’t know how to go about it. My mother thinks I’m better… How am I playing her that well because this is the worst I’ve ever been.

Sure, you can message me if you’d like.
Don’t have one anymore.
Welcome.
I’ve been up for about 24 hours, but I want to touch base with you since you’re new.
Schizoaffective disorder is characterized by a person presenting symptoms of schizophrenia (hallucinations, delusions, paranoia, flat affect, loss of pleasure) and either bipolar disorder with major depression or only major depression.
Thus schizoaffective disorder is differentiated from schizophrenia by the presence of a mood disorder.
