I'm classed as a vulnerable adult

This means my support staff can report me as missing if I don’t come home at night and the police come out looking for me, I stayed at a friends house and the police came to get me and drove me home 30 miles away, its happened quite a few times. Other times I have been public intoxicated and argumentative and they radioed my details in to see if I had any warrants or something and on hearing I was a vulnerable adult with intellectual disabilities they just take me home instead of arresting me. The police treat vulnerable people well here in my experience. Are you classed a vulnerable?

You are very lucky @bobbilly

Where I’m from the severely mentally ill are treated like second class citizens

Why do you do that? Why don’t you just tell them you’re going to stay overnight. That’s so inconsiderate. Are you trying to get attention?

They have a duty of care to make sure people are safe.

What about your duty to treat those around you with good manners?

I know.
Surely I am more like able than this man.

The police here are terrible to the mentally ill

I got arrested on mistaken identity and they treated me like a normal person here in the U.K. zero mercy even though I said am innocent and have schizophrenia

I make sure I wear both a medical ID necklace and also a bracelet. Both clearly identify schizophrenia and autism as conditions. I’m not planning to get into a tussle with the police, but I hope they will help if I somehow lose insight and that happens.

Me too. I have a Medic Alert membership and I always wear my engraved dog tag. It has my first name, diagnoses, and 3 emergency contact numbers.

It gives me peace of mind that I can use it to ask for help, but I share your fear of what would happen if I lose insight. I already do now sometimes. I try not to leave the house alone for that reason.

Good idea. But if jailed, they strip you and the nurse won’t care what you say about your meds. My experience is the people who take these jobs are horrible.

Those are expensive. Look into emergencyid.com - you just pay for the bracelet or necklace and there is no monthly fee to have your info listed. Easy for first responders to punch in the code off your tag.

I’m hoping it will keep me from being jailed! The police in Canada aren’t quite as bad as the ones in the U.S. yet, but I hear they are getting there.

I do want to get an ID bracelet though . Good idea. Yeah maybe it can help.

This is a good and affordable option. I looked at Medic Alert and they charge a lot each month for the listing of your info. Scam. I did wind up in an ambulance recently and the paramedic had no trouble pulling up my info on his work phone.

I’m sorry for my cruel remark.

When I have things going swimmingly for me, I am careful to release them into the universe.

Some of this stems from having a brother who is a high frequency day trader and very superstitious.

I too, am content with everything about my disability from Social Security(U.S.). But am afraid of having it stopped.

We are currently trying to get me in housing/day hospital/things to occupy my mind(even an occupation).

Thing is, I need to be on Medicaid according to my case manager and they require 5 years of bank statements. I’m scared… It’s going to show I’m crazy, but I’m scared it will be the wrong kind of crazy.

Does that make any sense?

Good idea I will give it a shot, but I doubt it would change anything regarding the police here. They don’t give a damn if you have schizophrenia or something, they won’t show any mercy.

Whats the difference between a medical ID necklace and simply just telling them your diagnosis and medicine?

The most dangerous place for the MI and homeless is the suburbs.

What if your unconscious
