I'm afraid I may have cancer, or, it may be a little anxiety

I have a tiny, 2 mm., non palpable lump on my right lower lip that I fear may be cancer. I have a nervous habit of 47 years of continually pressing my lips together that I fear may have contributed to this. This lesion has grown from 1 mm. to 2 mm. over the last 1- 3 months. I see a dentist for this problem this upcoming Tuesday morning. I’m surprising myself by being quite calm over the whole matter.

Shouldn’t you see a doctor if you’re worried instead of a dentist ?

I’ve already seen my doctor. She referred me to my dentist. She said dentists cover the mouth, teeth and the lips.

Wow. I didn’t know that. It’s good to do, at least it will put your mind to rest. It’s probably nothing.

It is probably nothing. But even if it is cancer, I’m totally prepared. I’ve seen enough of my family go through it to know what it entails.

It could just be a cancor sore. I’m glad you are getting it checked out.

You’re right, it could be. But it doesn’t hurt at all.

And that’s a bad sign.

good luck @Gina2 I hope and wish it is absolutely nothing.

It’s also not uncommon to have benign hard fatty deposits under the skin. They are called lipomas. Of course it should be checked by a professional.

I hope it’s not cancer, @Gina2. Maybe it’s a wart or a mole or a skin-tag?

You’ll be fine I’m sure @Gina2

Try not to get too worried about it before your appointment. You can put yourself into a tizzy over something that may be nothing…if it IS something, you’ll know on Tuesday. Don’t let the stress wear you out.

I’m listening to a guided meditation on death and dying on www.InsightTimer.com It is really helping my anxiety. I really recommend that app. It has thousands of guided meditations for everything under the sun.

I have something else going on besides that lump on my lip that I’m not talking about in detail on this website that is causing me anxiety too. It too is a medical issue. I’m getting scheduled for a diagnostic test related to that, this Monday.
