Holy frijoles. I just found out that withdrawal from Abilify can cause more severe than normal depression in those who already have depression. This must be what set me off. I am never dropping a med cold turkey again I s w e a r. If I would have known that ahead of time I would never have dropped it because my depression is much worse than any of the side effects I was having, even though they were nasty.
Does anyone know if Latuda helps with depression? If no other AP helps with it I may be stuck with Abilify and I really don’t feel it’s a match with my body.
Live and learn anna… that’s all we can do. I’m thinking of starting abilify as I had a terrible day and I really don’t want to lose my job, but neuromalignant syndrome as a risk and the typical side effects of tardative dyskenesia and what not… they’re still holding me back.
What is neuromalignant syndrome? Also the risk of developing TD is significantly lower with atypical AP’s compared to typical. Would you rather possibly develop tics years later in life or lose your job and have your life messed up due to a psychotic episode? Mainly if you feel like you’re not doing well, take care of yourself.
Neuroleptic malignant syndrome. Very very rare side effect, mainly seen in injectable typicals. It really isn’t something you’re likely to encounter with oral Abilify.
Wait. You did this? I actually have the urges to drop Abilify cold turkey as well but ya know; part of me was like “No, don’t do that”. Thanks for sharing! I think I’ll just talk to my pdoc about this instead of doing it myself. Hope you feel better!
