I'm 53 years old, a single man, and I am considering buying two guinea pigs

I know what people would think, especially women - you are such a loser, if not a serial killer!

I love guinea pigs, they are very talkative, sometimes too much, squeaking, grunting and wheeking, especially if you rub them on their underbelly.

And they can be very tame. I had them when I was a kid. I can’t have them when I have an allotment (the transport), but if I sell my allotment, I think I will give a damn about what people think and buy two guinea pigs.

I’m old enough and have had my share of women.

There’s nothing wrong with having pets, if you can take care of them!

Guinea Pigs make great pets!
I wish you lots of luck with them @bluebutterfly

I’m adopting a cat soon.

Oh yes, i can. They will be pampered, a big cage and two of them (females) i think its problematic having only one, they are very social animals.

I don’t think that makes you a loser. And I’m a woman, so that’s from a woman’s POV.

When I met my husband, he had 2 cats and I had 2 snakes. Other people thought that was strange. But I loved that he had cats and he thought it was cool that I had snakes.

I think society is weird, gendering pets. Like, thinking only girls can like cats and dogs are for men. I just think that’s all ridiculous.

If you love guinea pigs, I think you should get some! I had one as a kid. They are very cute.

Guinea pigs are the best. To heck with what anyone would think. Make yourself happy.

And anyone that would think something bad is just bleh.

Why would anyone think negatively of you for having Guinea pigs?! I think it’s a great idea!

Yes, @anon4362788 @Blossom - it’s ridiculous if other peoples meaning should stop me from buying two Guinea pigs.

It’s about time to show some independency, and i don’t need to be cool anymore, thats for young people. Its very difficult being cool hanging around with two guinea pigs . )

@LilyoftheValley - some people might find it uncool with a pet that is associated with kids.

I thought about a cat too @Wave . Good luck with it… Usually im a “dog person” but after seeing endless cat videos i think they are very smart and cute… I think i rehearse with a Guinea pig.

I don’t think they’re just for kids. I’m sorry you feel like you have to worry about what others think. Forget them! Get whatever pets you want

I would consider a Guinea pig or two probably.

But the noises they make trigger me unfortunately

Go for it, if that’s not a problem for you

Guinea pigs are very very cute! I honestly don’t find anything wrong with this! I use to have hamsters when I was young.

If you don’t feel like a looser when you are over 50 you are not schizophrenic. I’m over 50 an almost average in weight have no positive symptoms I own stocks and bonds but what have I achieved?
Absolutely nothing so I must admit I’m a failure just as well.

I am a fighter :sunglasses:

I once had a dream where I was bashing snakes that were flying towards me on top of the empire state building.

This dream symbolises me atm, I realised.

@columbus

Edit I think he was trying to reply to the thread even though he replied to me personally lol

Sorry

How do you plan to cook them? I’ve got a great Peruvian recipe.

I think it’s a great idea. Some of my fondest memories are about me and my sister raising hamsters.

If you get tired of caring for them, you can always eat them. Lol. Sorry.

I love Guinea pigs, though. I had one growing up, named shadow. I had her many years. I trained her to do tricks.
