If I was a bit better mentally, I would build my own house

Built my own small house, learn the whole process from videos etc. Using solar panels for electricity. Live completely free of rent, it would be a one time purchase for the equipment to build and the materials. I would maybe have an outhouse for a toilet, or at least some practical toilet solution. My aunt and uncle has one of those toilets in their cabin where the crap gets burned, maybe one of those.
I would have a desk for the computer, electric outlets connected to the solar panels on the roof. Fridge, stove, bed. And I would make a big porch that is raised above ground, where I can chill when it’s sunny outside.

I’ve been so inspired lately by YouTubers who build their own cabins, I would seriously do it if I was a bit better off with mental health.

I bought a book on the internet about building your own house from scratch when I was in my early 30’s(I think). Maybe a bit younger. I fully intended to try it, but I never did it due to various reasons. It’s quite a project , though.

That’s cool! Wonder how long it would take from start to finish, including learning how to do it. (for a small house)

Its not hard doing framing and finishing but plumbing and electrical you need to pay a guy and they dont work cheap, or at all if they dont like what you built. House has to be connected to sewer or septic system and grid.

Maybe you can build a cottage in the woods a lot of people do that here in Ontario atleast
