At least I’ll have the memories of dating a few good looking women who were way out of my league, scaring soldiers, flying across the U.S., being best man at my dads wedding, and having a wonderful family. I’ll know all my life experiences were not for naught.

Your post reminds me of the movie It’s a Wonderful Life. George lost all of his money, so he tells the angel that he wishes he was never born. The angel grants his wish.
All of the great things that George did never happened because he was never born.

Yes, I remember the movie with James Stewart. I used to be a Hollywood trivia buff!
