We had an alert about an “incident” at the nuclear power plant located about 1 hour away from my house.
Freaked everyone out.
But it was sent by mistake, lol
We occasionally have “Amber alerts” when a child has been abducted. Or “Silver alerts” when an elderly person goes missing.
Are fccc in our state as a national alert system tells us on our phone if we are having nuclear strikes and where our closest shelter is or so I am told we have Amber Alerts Silver Alert but no wandering schizophrenic alerts
Snow is so rare here in Athens that when it snowed a month ago, a nation wide emergency alert went off on every phone at once.
As a Norwegian, I nearly died laughing.
I got a severe weather alert on my phone a couple days about a week and a half ago. It was kind of weird. Never seen it before.
We have Amber Alerts here named after a girl who was kidnapped. Anytime a child goes missing the alert wakes you up on the night to let you know
Is there a way to disable amber alerts?
Those would be super distressing for me.
Not to my knowledge. They are sent out by the authorities for emergency situations. If you could turn them off most people probably would and that would render them useless.
I’ve had a few go off on my phone and wake me up at night. Amber alerts about missing children.
If such an alert woke me up at the wrong time my groggy butt would probably run out the door in nothing but a robe to look for the kid behind the dumpster outside, before waking up properly.
