If he’s not qualified to dx autism how much weight should I put on the opinion of my pdoc

I mean it’s a first a pdoc sat down for 1h30m and asked questions. He thinks it’s highly probable I am autistic. But I can’t get tested because the place I’m referred to currently don’t have trained specialists in autisim and are looking to employ one. If he’s saying with such confidence do you think I can tell employers yet or wait for the processional opinion (employers need to know if there is an occi health form).

Being DXed in autism will not make a huge difference in your life.

It will enable the process of applying for benefits easier if I have a report detailing the difficulties I’m having. And hopefully help with interviews but mainly I’m concerned about not being able to work at times.

Right. I forgot your country actually has those. Mine only talks about them without giving much.

Yes and I feel bad about taking the help but when I need it , it damn tough to get any help without a report detailing my difficulties. I rarely see a pdoc so I don’t have much documentation.

Do Not ceel bad about needing help. A lot of people do, myself included. I worked for 15 years and now i havent been able to in the past 10. I get a small SSDI payment monthly, but it helps. And i dont feel guilty about it at all. I payed into the system while i worked, and now im needing the benefits of that system. Its important for your mental health to understand that you deserve that help.

I thought you had a mental health diagnosis too ? Cos that should be enough for PIP.

I applied four times and got denied everytime even with a sza dx. The only reason I got accepted this time is cos I had full blown psychosis close to applying. If I apply again I won’t get it it’s really tough.

I was told to fill in the forms as if you are describing your worst day. I was told to do this by my psychiatrist. He also said to appeal the desicion if they reject your claim.

I did exactly that. They called me in and decided I didn’t need it. 4 times. I got no help from my mental health team kept discharging me back to my gp

Ah sorry to hear that. Hmmm maybe try getting help from the citizens advice bureau (to fill in forms). I was diagnosed with autism aswell as schizophrenia but the autism diagnosis didn’t get me any more money but it did help me understand why i do some of the things i do.

I get standard rate currently and I guess what I’m trying to do is collect evidence of needing help. I don’t get much of it because I take the meds as prescribed but I have other challenges that then go unnoticed.

Standard rate pip? Have you applied for universal credit?

Yes but I’m technically still on a zero hour contract they just don’t have any part time. I’m starting to look elsewhere.

When I say they don’t help I mean … as long as I’m taking meds they don’t want to put in the effort of extra help and I don’t mean financially. I had to ask for an employment specialist let’s see.

Don’t feel bad about needing it. That’s what it’s there for, yes? I hope you are able to get what you need.

Ok. Well hopefully you can get the help you want. :slightly_smiling_face:

Yeah having a Sza diagnosis should be enough to get disability payments

I honestly don’t know why it’s an issue @anon25873142

Your doctor and therapists input (reports) are vital.

Can you get a disability lawyer or social worker to help you obtain disability?

This should help

It helps alot if they could keep you on their books instead of discharging you. The first time i applied for PIP i was denied multuple times. I had to take them to court. After court i was awarded high rate.

I think you should make a stink and ask them to find a specialist that they can refer you to
