Werewolves are shapeshifters. Since a lot of people with SZ as well as other types of issues like PTSD, bipolar, etc go through different moods and phases, a shapeshifting canine would be ideal…
PS: Not all werewolves are monsters that rip things apart at night…In the Twilight series the Werewolves are good…except to vampires… and even after awhile those 2 got along…
Which takes people back to thinking schizophrenia is a split personality.
Nobody I’ve bitten has caught Sz from me, so I crossed that choice off the list.

Well there’s also Coyote the trickster god.

Good one…Coyote is sacred to many Native Americans…He is Trickster, but also a teacher and a messenger.
One description here: (the first sentence certainly would fit some people with SZ)
The coyote totem is strikingly paradoxical and is hard to categorize. It’s a teacher of hidden wisdom with a sense of humor, so the messages of the coyote spirit animal may paradoxically appear in the form of a joke or trickery. Don’t be tricked by the foolish appearances. The spirit of the coyote may remind you to not take things too seriously and bring more balance between wisdom and playfulness. Its symbolism is associated with a deep magic of life and creation
