I feel like a crazy scientist experimenting on myself ingesting all this bacteria.
I feel more saliva in my mouth too. Well just a bit more.
Looks like I may have to give up this fresh sprouts. Sad face
I’ll put in my two cents and say that “outbreaks” of salmonella or other diseases that food can cause, are not happening a lot and when they do happen, they are usually caught and taken care of swiftly.
Probably more people are killed by lightening or die of bee stings or bitten by sharks or get killed jaywalking each year than die from these occasional food borne diseases. I’m just using examples to make a point, I have no idea how many people are killed each year by the examples I listed. I’m just trying to say that an outbreak happens, a recall is given and afterward it is perfectly safe to go back to eating whatever fruit or vegetable you like. If you have bought already or have on hand any food that has any chance of being contaminated than throw it out but it will be safe to buy and eat again soon.
These outbreaks are not permanent; after the contamination is eradicated you will see grocery stores selling broccoli or apples or carrots once again because it’s safe. So yeah, with this broccoli thing, hopefully no one will die; but broccoli will be back on the shelves again soon and it will be safe.
To play it safe, any produce you buy in a store should always be washed before you consume it.
I am off work tomorrow. I am going to go and try that broccoli supplement right now. I ordered some. I am about to go to bed though so I don’t think I will notice anything.
I tried some of those others that were recommended and one made me psychotic and another one brought my tremors back. I don’t remember which ones. I posted about it when it happened. That Sarcosine stuff I got for free and I didn’t notice anything with that.
The thing is that they say washing sprouts doesn’t remove the bacteria only cooking does…
And cooking destroys those chemicals in the broccoli apparently.
I’m still not sure I might just stop them to be safe. I remember last time I tried sprouts for a phase I vomited So much and was even shivering. I think I’m one of those few people prone to illness from sprouts
They do say little kids and pregnant women, cancer and immune compromised people should not have them.
The key to safe sprouts is apparently to use very clean seeds - ones that are meant for sprouting.
As long as you’re keeping your equipment clean, washing your hands etc, you probably won’t contaminate your sprouts. So once you have a crop from a batch of seeds and it doesn’t make you sick, future crops grown from that package of seeds are probably going to be safe.
I would trust ones I grew over ones from the store.
You can get salmonella from lots of things. BUT, yeah, it could happen with sprouts.
