I will have to quit chess, at least in the short term

Chess is very taxing physically.
I play bullet chess, 1+2 minutes.
It is filled with pressure, which is OK but it is also physically demanding as it gets the pulse way up.
Perhaps if I’ll be able to improve my fitness, and shed some weight I’ll be able to return to chess.
I used to have excellent fitness, through training.

Not sure what bullet chess is. An even faster version of blitz chess?

I’ve played chess in the past. I like to take my time to strategize, I don’t perform well under tight time constraints…

I am doing all right. a little vulnerable today to psychotic thinking. I was playing on many chess sites. I was good. I lost interest & concentration. I still have feelings for chess. I love it.

Hey man. I suck at chess. So you should be proud that you’re good at it. Have you thought about buying books on chess similarly how one buys and studies math books?

Bullet chess seems like it would be good practice for studying for exams. That and being a quick thinker.

I had to stop chess too but I have a big deficit in processing speed and therefore I have never been able to play bullet or blitz, only veeeeery long games and my concentration was not able to sustain it… :frowning:

No, its not,

This has nothing to do with physical strength or training.

I think you’re not feeling well because of the self imposed changed to your medications,

That’s all.

Get back on your regular dose and see how you feel in a couple weeks,

You’ll probably be in a much better headspace and be able to play.

OK I got back to playing chess.

Apparently it doesn’t, in reality all the top chess players do a lot of physical exercise to improve their brain and concentration.

He’s talking about endurance, stamina, and concentration. People that play video games, chess, math, etc. need to be in somewhat physical shape especially at older ages to compete. At least that’s what I believe, think, and have heard.

@zeno and @insidemind,

I definitely agree that being in good physical shape improves concentration and ability overall.

However, in this case, I was just trying to dish out some tough love to @Chess24.

Sounds like a combination of chess and Russian roulette .
