Lately I have been so stressed, irritable and tense. I felt horrible this morning and thought about cancelling, (I booked the ride yesterday) but I decided to go despite feeling bad. I got to the stables and the horse I was to be riding was lying down in her stable, so I got her up and gave her a huge cuddle, and she nuzzled into me and whickered. It made me emotional but in a good way. We went out for a lovely hack in the countryside for an hour, and had a canter around the fields. When I got home I had a cup of tea in the garden then got my weekly house clean done. I still feel calm and relaxed now several hours later. It’s a wonderful relief to have a break from the tension and irritability of these last few weeks. Horses are amazing animals, I wish I could go the the stables every day.
That is wonderful. Bonus points for going when you didn’t feel like it! That takes courage.
I always dream I am riding a horse. I used to train equestrian. I loved it.
Went horse riding in Pacifica once along the beach. It was the funniest time because my friend was falling off his horse. I couldn’t stop laughing. It was so funny
Cool! I don’t know why but I’d be scared to write a horse. Just me.
So glad you got out and enjoyed yourself! I often have times where I don’t want to go out. I get anxietal and just want to cancel. Most times I just do it! I’m so glad when that works out and I have a great time!
Well done you. Sounds like such a cool an peaceful way to spend a day!
How long would you say it takes to learn to ride a horse?
Can you learn at any age?
Anyone can learn at any age. There’s a lot more to it than many might think, but even if you never do jumping or any of the more advanced stuff, anyone can sit on a horse and go for a trek in the countryside with an experienced leader… It’s a lovely experience
Thanks I’m so glad I forced myself to go, I’ve always been crazy about horses so it really was a lovely way to spend an afternoon.
My niece is really into horses. She has one and her cousins next door have 4 more. I like horses but I’m a little scared of them. I like to brush them down but I’ve never sat on a saddle.
Horses can provide a level of therapy that I haven’t found matched by anything else. I live and work on a horse farm, I truly think that’s why I’m still going with life at the moment. They keep me going. Good job for going even though you didn’t feel up to it.
Riding isn’t for everyone, my partner loves horses but is happy just to brush them and not ride, I just think they are such lovely gentle animals it’s lovely just to be near them :- )
Thanks, I’m really glad I went. Wow, that would be my dream, living on a horse farm… being around horses is great therapy for me too, I always feel at peace when I’m around horses.
