I want to keep a turtle

Does anyone keep a turtle?

I want to keep one and just ordered a book on how to keep them.

To anyone who keeps a pet, what do you do when you are unwell yourself? Are you able to take care of them even when you are unwell?

That is my biggest worry.

my ex has 2 turtles, one of them being 11 years old… one came out the lake, one came out the river.

I have 2 cats and 2 kittens. My mom takes care good of them, I just buy them food. Taking care of them myself would be too much of a strain maybe, with my illness and all…

When I was deep into psychosis I had two cats, I took care of them well. They both ran away though, it wasn’t my fault, I had a garden and lived with windows to the street. One of them was a street cat, so he came home to eat, ran away, I found him and then he ran away again I couldn’t find him anymore. The other one was on the pill, I didn’t have money to buy it and she was in heat, ran away through an open window while I was in the shower. I looked and looked but never found her. To this day it breaks my heart, they were my best friends.

I have one cat now and I feed him and clean the litter. I’ll have a kitten soon too.

Turtles are good pretty easy pets…food and water and a little room to turtle run…you should get a leash and take it to the park…oo you could use non toxic paint and give its shell an awesome paint job…you can do it…

Hey:
Ask me anything about turtles! They are great! I have two now, red eared sliders.

If you want aquatic turtles, you should adopt some red eared sliders. They are often given away for free, sadly. They need a big aquarium and uvb light, but you can buy the stuff used. In the summer you can have them in a kiddie pool if you have a porch/veranda/garden. Remember to put some big rocks in the middle and they will sunbath!

If you want a tortoise, i think the sulcata is the most common one. It gets huge(like really huge). Then you need a garden and a shed with electricity if the winter gets cold, doghouse is enough if it doesnt get cold where you live.

Remember to get a tortoise or turtle that needs a new home - dont buy one from a pet store or get one from nature!

They (both turtles and tortoises) love sunlight and dandelions!

Good luck.

I had a turtle when I was a kid. He had a large plastic tub to call him with airator and a large flat rock to get out of water and sit on. But all he ever wanted to do, no matter how we adjusted his water temp was go get stuck behind the radiator, this is where I’d often find him, and this is where he died.

That is all I know of keeping a turtle.

This sounds like a line from a folk song or maybe a poem

Been there lol. Had to leave my wallet on the counter if I went out for a smoke (kept or slave?)

It’s not quite that bad

Thank you, so I was a slave. Especially as the forces that have pursued me drove her to suicide and before hand she’s made an unbelieved acusaion of rape to my psychiatrist.

I trully wish I knew where there was a proper monument or burial site at which to pay my respects/make my peace.

I’m thinking of getting a hermann tortoise, from a breeders’ market that’s held near Tokyo every year.

I want a male tortoise, but are there any good ways to tell one is a male or female when it’s still small?
