but i was just average to slightly above average playing against below average athletes. it’s obvious when i watch the local high school sports games. if i were bigger or taller though, i could have played college ball and got a scholarship. anyways i should have played AAU basketball in the city where i could have improved against better competition.
when i got to college, i would play pickup ball against the football players, or other scholarship athletes, and then i finally saw i was more of a division 2 prospect. as i was not as fast or strong as them.
Sometimes I wish I had a friend to play catch with. I bet it’s been 15+ years since I’ve thrown a ball.
Though I think at 38 I wouldn’t move like I could at 21 yo.
I bet it would feel good to even hold a baseball or a football. I’ve thought about buying one but I haven’t.
same here, sometimes i wish my brother was still around to play catch with. i tried to throw the football around with dad one summer but he has a bum shoulder and can only throw like 10 yards.
Same here to be honest. I was always strong but never tall, so I could manage myself in football (soccer) and rugby.
I was also very good with a bat in cricket.
Slowly my hand eye coordination sort of depleted though and my energy levels fluctuated too much so my performance became lazy and eventually completely uncoordinated!
I do miss sports a lot. I hope the negative symptoms recover from and I can play again. I’d work really hard to get to a semi pro level to be honest, to play in amateur sports leagues. Eg Sunday league or the likes of.
yeah i would like to start playing pickup basketball again, or maybe going to the rec center to play. it’s good exercise, but i no longer worry about winning or losing. i just play because i like it, and it’s fun exercise.
Yeah I hear you, I do feel you’ll redevelop the competitive hunger too though. If your body recovers enough, so would your mind imo. So you have a chance to be a winner again , even in leisure sports!
