I tried to spend time in my FIances condo after she bought a hepa filter air filter and I took allergy meds

It didnt work. I was woke up by congestion and a wheezig/whistling cough that had finally gone away after about 2 weeks of being up there.

I spent about 2 or 3 hours in the apartment and its back. Its going to probably take me a week to get back to normal.

She wants to try some cat food that is supposed to reduce dander and buy another hepa filter and try again.

I’m going to have to tell her “no” at some point. I do not want to go through this over and over. We need to have another solution.

I’m tired of being sick.

I think my throat partially closes up. And then I get a congested cough for sure.

So now Im up in the middle of the night because of that couple hours, again.

I’ve seen commercials for that cat food that reduces pet dander. If you love your fiancé give it one more try. If it doesn’t work she’ll have to get rid of the cat.

My daughter was seriously allergic to cats. Her eyes would swell up. We found an abandoned cat at a rest stop and I would bathe the cat every day to make my daughters allergies not so bad. It worked pretty well. I just didn’t wanna throw that kitten on the street. Til I found it a home

Yeah, I’d get divorced over giving up a cat. That’s too big an ask IMO.

Really? It’s not a big ask. If the dude has allergies to pet dander he can’t be around pets period.

Guess who nearly got divorced over a cat?

I have a serious dog allergy. I would not date a dog owner.

Common sense.

Yup. My singles ad she answered clearly stated that I like cats and I don’t like people who don’t like cats. She knew what she signed up for.

How accepting will she be of re homing the cat?

I mean it’s either the cat or you, right?

Did you try the bath with the dander shampoo? I would see an allergist to get tested. There may be a specific part you are allergic to, and can treat specifically. Sometimes dander can be the specific cause and sometimes not
