I think i have bad ADHD. Do any of these symptoms line up?

I didn’t realize this forum was just for schizophrenia. Somebody told me I was Zoning out and now that I think about it, I zone out A LOT. Too many thoughts in my head that aren’t what I want. There’s a constant war in my mind and I am slowly losing sanity. I don’t trust anybody, therefore I have no close friends. I feel like they might be close to me but I’m not close to them, or however that is said. I never leave my room but to eat downstairs. I fear people are out to hurt me. People say I have psychosis, but I think my hallucinations aren’t hallucinations and there are demons that interact with me and also interfere with my thoughts. I was thinking though that the reason I can’t focus is just ADHD. People with ADHD have disheveled thoughts too, right? I’m diagnosed with basically nothing but ADHD right now. My depression went away and I’m not bipolar. I pretty much just have ADHD and I thought this forum might be for all mental illnesses so I signed up for it, but then I realized maybe you guys have good adivce for me.

It is going to be that the doctors wont put a label to your diagnosis for a very long time and for good reason.

You say “my room”. if your under 20yrs old doctors shy away from it. So much can change quickly.

ADHD is discribed more like watching tv but someone else keeps changing the channel. That and excess energy.

You can tell a psychologist what is happening like you did here. That person will help you to better understand your symptoms and work on socializing.

If people say you have hallucinations, and you believe you have demons interacting with you, that sounds more like schizophrenia than ADHD.

People can have both ADHD and schizophrenia.

Schizophrenia also can cause problems with focus, memory and attention.

So, ADHD could explain some of your symptoms, but not the social withdrawal, hallucinations, or perceptions of demons.

Ty sooo much guys for your input!

I do however think the demons are real though.

What defeats them then?

Often times I’ll run from them and sometimes they want to rape me. And they often times get into my mind and control my thoughts meaning they don’t get defeated. The only attack my physically at night when I’m sleeping, otherwise usually I can run, but a lot of times they still make my thoughts even more disheveled. The demons are the reason that my thoughts are so unorganized that I zone out.

Also I never watch tv. I don’t know if that adds up to anything though.

I think you are in the right place (this forum).

You may find that the right medication will get rid of your demons. Have you seen a psychiatrist and gotten a diagnosis or a prescription?

I am on medicine because the psychiatrists think I might be schizophrenic (they didn’t diagnose it yet for a few reasons one being that they just found out a month ago about my problems, and it takes 6 months to diagnose schizophrenia. I’ve had demons for 4 years but i thought they were humans for awhile so nobody knew about them cuz I wasn’t running) I don’t think I’m schizophrenic though. I think I have paranormal stuff happening to me:(

A lot of people here have paranormal symptoms. It can go away, in some greater or lesser degree, with the right meds. It can take awhile, but keep your doc informed because sometimes the first med is not the best med for you.

It has gotten rid of most of the demons but there are still some haunting me.

If it’s gotten rid of most of them in just one month, that’s a very good sign.

How old are you? Are you in an early intervention program?

I’m still sort of young. Almost 18. Which is another reason why I don’t think I’m schizophrenic. And ty for your help btw:)

18 is not too young for sz. It can occur at any age, although it is rare before 13.

I would encourage you to find an early intervention program in your area. @SzAdmin where’s that listing of early intervention resources?

Some of the confusion and disorganized thoughts can be alleviated with a therapy called cognitive remediation. Ask your psychiatrist about this.

What is an early intervention program? One, do they cost money? And two what are they? I haven’t heard of them:/ and tytyty

Are you in the US, UK, Canada or Australia? They all have programs. Some other countries as well, mostly developed countries.

The early intervention programs are taxpayer funded. There shouldn’t be a cost to you.

Often they are run out of university or research hospitals.

They can help you get therapy, medication, social activities, etc.

Yes I’m in the USA, and also I’m not diagnosed with schizophrenia yet, cuz they have to wait 6months (once I’ve had symptoms for that long). I did have symptoms for that long, BUT I never told any therapists or psychiatrists. Would I still be aloud in the group?

I can’t speak for individual programs, but probably.
